Ultimate Staffing is seeking a dedicated and reliable Technician 2 to join our team. You will play a key part in manufacturing our innovative devices, ensure quality and precision throughout the production process, and help support our groundbreaking experiments. Schedule: Days 7:30AM to 5:00PM
What You'll do:
Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requiring instruction only on new assignments. In this role, you will:
* Perform failure analysis of operations on solid-state battery cells and components following established SOPs, work instructions, and safety requirements.
* Execute cell teardown, sample preparation, multilayer splitting, metrology, imaging, and material characterization activities to support engineering investigations.
* Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including metrology systems, imaging instruments, and specialized failure analysis tools.
* Accurately document test results, observations, and experimental data in electronic tracking systems and laboratory records.
* Support root cause investigations by preparing samples, collecting data, and providing detailed observations to engineers and scientists.
* Identify, communicate, and document equipment issues, process deviations, and anomalous findings to support continuous improvement initiatives.
* Prioritize and manage multiple laboratory tasks while maintaining quality, accuracy, and turnaround time expectations.
* Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements for handling batteries, chemicals, hazardous materials, and laboratory waste streams.
* Perform routine laboratory housekeeping, material handling, inventory management, and equipment readiness activities to ensure operational efficiency.
* Support technician training activities, knowledge sharing, and adherence to standardized work practices within the laboratory.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, data integrity, quality workmanship, teamwork, and continuous improvement in all laboratory activities.
* Work collaboratively with scientists and engineers to support experimental initiatives and project objectives.
* Strictly comply with all safety policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
Skills You'll Need:

* A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience; typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience in an R&D lab environment
* A commitment to delivering high-quality results
* Basic computer software skills, including Microsoft Office and a browser
Nice to have:
* Able to handle a dynamic research environment
* Ready to learn a range of lab skills
* Flexible and can collaborate on different projects with researchers
* Comfortable using software for task completion and logging data
Physical requirements:
* Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, lab area, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills
* Able to wear full body cleanroom gown and face coverings
* Able to stand for long periods of time
* Able to lift 20-30 lbs. on occasion
* Reaching and twisting motions with hands
ONSITE: This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
